A.S.D. - Social Skills/Peer Groups

Loneliness, difficulty making friends, low self-esteem and confusion about the social world are problems often experienced by individuals on the spectrum. Participation in a peer group can help by providing a friendship group which meets every week in a safe, structured environment. I offer two groups for individuals on the spectrum: a teen group (13 – 16) and an adult group (18+). Both groups are held in the Bellewood Building conference room in Redmond

TRANSITION SUPPORT GROUP This group is for young adults on the spectrum from 18 to 25 who need support for their transition from school to work. Participants will learn job-search, interviewing, resume-writing, and job-retention skills in an emotionally safe and uplifting environment.  They will receive support while learning friendship, work, and teamwork skills. Group meets weekly for one and a half hours at Redmond and Covington offices.

MY GROUP FOR ADULTS (18+)is on-going and meets every Monday from 5:00 – 6:00 pm. New members are welcome to join at any time. This group provides a low-cost way to gain social support and learn how being on the spectrum affects you. Through group discussions, handouts, and didactic presentations, members come to know and trust one another, gain support for their particular challenges, learn about the confusing world of neurotypicals, and how to negotiate the social world.
