A.S.D. - Job Coaching
Retaining employment is often a major challenge for individuals on the spectrum. Many such individuals have a history of job terminations, which has led to low self-esteem, discouragement, and major depression. Individuals on the spectrum need training in general working skills, expectations of employers, and dealing with the social requirements of the workplace.
Job coaching provides the assistance of a professional who understands the employer/employee relationship. You will have individual help from a specialist in autism spectrum disorders, as well as a former recruiter and Human Resources professional, who can lead you through the maze of the social aspects of employment, as well as the red flags that are often missed by the person on the spectrum. Vague statements, questions or hints from the boss can provide warning of trouble on the job, but if these are ignored or missed, termination sometimes results.
Employer training is also provided (see page on Training and Consulting), to help him/her understand the needs and challenges of their employee on the spectrum.
