Asperger’s Syndrome Screening
Sometimes, individuals hear and read about Asperger’s Syndrome, and begin to think they may be “on the spectrum”. Getting a diagnosis often brings great relief, as they can then learn more about their neurological functioning, obtain social support and treatment, and learn ways to overcome their challenges.
An Asperger’s Syndrome Screening consists of two one-hour appointments (preferably with at least one parent to provide early childhood history), consisting of interviews and completion of an assessment tool. All of the data obtained, including any prior psychological or medical evaluations, will be considered, and impressions will be given to the client. This initial screening can help an individual decide on next steps in career, education and/or therapy, and whether referrals to other professionals such as a psychiatrist, learning disability specialist, or neurologist are appropriate.
